My Magical Trip to Cappadocia: Hot Air Balloons, Caves, and More!
Cappadocia is a place like a dream. When I arrived, I felt like I stepped into a fairy tale. There are big valleys, soft rock mountains, flying balloons, and caves everywhere! In this post, I will share the top 10 amazing things I did in Cappadocia, with useful tips for you too.
🎈 1. Hot Air Balloon Ride in Cappadocia
Waking up early was 100% worth it! I joined a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia at sunrise, and it was one of the best things in my life. The view from the sky was full of colors — fairy chimneys, caves, and other balloons in the sky. It felt peaceful and exciting at the same time!
Tip: Book early because it sells out fast, especially in summer.
🏛️ 2. Visit Göreme Open Air Museum
Göreme Open Air Museum entrance fee
Entrance fee: Around 20–25 EUR. You can pay extra for the Dark Church (highly recommended!).
This place is very special. It’s like an outdoor museum with churches and rooms inside the rocks. Some walls have beautiful old paintings. It shows how people lived and prayed many years ago.
🕳️ 3. Explore Underground Cities in Cappadocia
Cappadocia has many underground cities, but I went to Derinkuyu, the deepest one. It was amazing and a little scary! People used to hide here during wars. There are tunnels, kitchens, and even rooms for animals!
Tip: Go with a guide. They explain everything and help you not get lost.
🚐 4. Join the Green Tour

🏇 5. Horseback Riding
Cappadocia means “Land of Beautiful Horses.” So of course, I had to try it! I went on a sunset horseback ride through Rose Valley and Red Valley. The horse was gentle, and the views were wow!
Tip: Wear long pants and closed shoes.
🏨 6. Stay in the Best Cave Hotel with a View
Sleeping in a cave hotel was like living in a movie. I stayed in Göreme and the hotel had a rooftop terrace with views of the balloons in the morning.
My favorite part? Staying one of best cave hotel in Cappadocia with view drinkingTurkish tea while watching the sky full of balloons!
🛵 7. ATV Sunset Tour Through Valleys
This was so much fun! I joined an ATV tour at sunset, and we drove through dust roads, Love Valley, and Sword Valley. The sky was orange and pink. It was exciting and beautiful!
Tip: Wear sunglasses — the dust is real!
🏺 8. Try Pottery Making in Avanos
Avanos is a cute town next to a river, and it’s famous for pottery. I visited a family-run workshop and even tried making a pot on the wheel! It’s harder than it looks, but very fun.
Tip: You can buy handmade souvenirs here too.
🎉 9. Enjoy a Turkish
One night I went to a Turkish Night Show. There was belly dancing, traditional music, and a big dinner with unlimited drinks. Everyone was clapping and dancing. It was a party!
Time: Usually starts around 8 PM. Book early!
🧘 10. Relax and Enjoy the Magic
There are many relaxing things to do in Cappadocia.
Not everything needs to be busy. One day, I just relaxed at my cave hotel rooftop. I drank apple tea, read my book, and looked at the view. It was perfect. 🧡
